Work

What people see is not alwayswhere communication should begin.

A website or presentation is often where the confusion shows up — not where it begins.

The work starts earlier, with the business itself: what it is, what it offers, what it values, and why it matters to its customers.

The first two examples are from current work in Italy. Each began with a different question, but both started the same way: listening to the people closest to the business before deciding what to say about it.

Agriculture & Hospitality — CasaMatilda, Langhe

The philosophy came before the business.

CasaMatilda needed a way to explain what Anna and Fabio had built.

The house, the land, La Dispensa, Asì delle Langhe, and the hospitality were being presented as separate activities.

Listening to Anna and Fabio revealed that they were different expressions of the same philosophy and of a life shaped by land, food, time, responsibility, and relationships.

I went back through CasaMatilda's history, checked what was known, and clarified where different accounts did not agree.

Once the connection between the different activities was clear, it became easier to explain CasaMatilda as a whole. The farm, pantry, vinegar cellar, and hospitality could be presented as parts of one household rather than separate ventures.

"It gave us a clear way to communicate and helped people better understand CasaMatilda."

Optics & Retail — Ottica Benzi, Piacenza

The value was already there. The language was missing.

Ottica Benzi did not need to be reinvented. It needed to be understood by people who did not already know it.

Monica already knew how to make her customers feel understood. She began with the person — how they see, what creates difficulty, and what they need in daily life.

The lenses and frame followed from that understanding.

Existing customers experienced that difference in person. Someone discovering Ottica Benzi for the first time could not necessarily understand it.

The work was to make that difference clear before they entered the shop.

"I knew my business and my customers, but communicating that to them was something different. The Buonquillo work helped us understand our strengths and organize them into language that speaks to our current customers and attracts new ones. We even had our first online booking because of it."

Earlier Work — New York City

Before moving to Italy, I spent 25 years in New York City developing strategic communication across financial services, real estate finance, hospitality, consumer products, and corporate communication.

The work ranged from strategic positioning and sales presentations to advertising and international communications.

The selected images below represent part of that earlier work.

Value is not invented.

The product may be strong. The story may be real. The standard may be high.

But customers still need to understand why it matters.

That is where Buonquillo begins.
